Client: Midwest Pizza Concept

Need: Expansion

Problem: Or should we say, opportunity. A Chicagoland pizzeria, has proven it could make outstanding pizza. Its highly acclaimed pizzas generate publicity that most restaurateurs only dream of. Newsweek even featured the operator in a recent case study. Its first unit was exceeding its revenue goals, but this was no guarantee that future units would fare as well.

Solution: The owners retained Miick & Associates to guide its future growth. We first helped fine-tune the company’s vision and plan a logical expansion effort. Becoming a multiunit chain required new systems, so we installed operational controls for inventory, costing and budgeting. We then designed a custom leadership training and development program for all team members to improve service quality, internal communication, and retention.

Results: Operating results have been remarkable:

  • Two units are in operation; An additional unit in construction and three more are in initial phase planning
  • Training certification programs established for all team members.
  • New systems for hiring, training, fiscal management, and technology. Manuals and e-communication in place.
  • Within six months of our efforts, turnover was reduced from 82%. Food inventory costs were reduced 75%
  • Sales are up 167%…and still growing!
